The people are still nice but there's some issues.

A rich merchant came in about an hour ago and the whole town became incredibly tense. I overheard some talking about having to move away and others saying that they want to protest. He immediately went to the government office, too. Don't know for sure, yet but I think he wants to do something that will affect the town negatively.
I'll have to wait until tomorrow for more info I guess.
Not specifically, no. But I don't think that we're supposed to sit with our arms crossed and let this happen. The townspeople are clearly unhappy with whatever's happening.
