[ After a long moment, Nadeshiko swishes her tail peaceably. She is satisfied with the bird's mettle. And it's only natural that she should try to be on good terms with a bird after her own spirit.
Sakichi looks past Baren and at the shrine itself, then up at the sign on the torii gate. "Kumou"...? ]
I didn't expect someone so irreverent to own a shrine. Do you live here?
[ That's Sakichi's question... He opens his mouth to respond when he starts daydreaming.
That's what it feels like, anyway. A forced daydream where the shrine is still there, but the skies are open and overcast. He makes his way up the steps, only to find the floor littered with animal carcasses. Disgusted, he covers his nose and finds a stick to clear the path. The leaves fly up around him. An affected, almost mysterious voice speaks to him, and bewildered he rushes up to a shrine guardian statue. It all ends in a sharp pain in his head.
He blinks and finds Baren in front of him again. ]
[ - but also it's the first memory that's not about a horse that Sakichi's gotten. So Baren steps aside and seems to overall be willing to let Sakichi to inspect the place.
It's considerably cleaner now, given the amount of upkeep that Baren's swords have put into it. They work hard on the shrine and he tries to be careful with it in turn.]
[ Sakichi pays no attention to Baren's comment and makes his way into the shrine, Nadeshiko clip-clopping politely behind him. He retraces the steps in his memory, glancing around at the same stone lanterns and wooden structures. What a strange feeling of deja vu. Unconsciously, he makes his way back to the same guardian statue he'd started inspecting at the end of his memory... and starts inspecting it again.
He circles around it before stopping to stare intently at its stony face. It wasn't really talking, was it...? ]
[ Sadly(?), Sakichi is familiar enough with Baren's voice to recognize it even in a growl, but he still twitches briefly, unable to keep the alarm off his face as he whirls on Baren. ]

Sakichi looks at the chocobo in surprise, then at Baren in even more surprise. For Sakichi, that just means his eyebrows raise a little. ]
Baren? What are you doing here?
[ Meanwhile, Nadeshiko sidesteps to stand patiently by Sakichi and stare at the chocobo. Attentive. ]
