anyway, zoro comes down the stairs just as the healing ends, hair wet and still patting his face dry. elsa's palace hadn't left him injured so much as on the verge of frostbite again. all he had to do was take a bath and be grateful that it wasn't as bad as last time. things could have been worse. were worse, if the dull ache in his arm meant anything.
he drapes the face towel over the bannister and snuggles into his turtleneck as he waits for the healing circle to disperse, attention fixed on one person only. plops down next to him when the coast is clear.]

[Sometime on the 4th, Baren will get a message--a photo of Yasusada, standing in his apartment, next to the sword rack that now holds his and Kashuu's vessels. It looks like a normal photo, except that over his regular clothes, he's wearing something out of place--a blue and white haori, immediately recognizable to anyone familiar with the Shinsengumi.
He doesn't know if Baren is, though. Baren told him he'd lived in the Sengoku era, which seemingly puts several hundred years between their past selves, but... there's no way to know for sure unless he asks. Not with the things they're capable of these days.

Eventually, he catches a glimpse of a hoofprint in the dirt at the edge of the forest. He follows its trajectory undaunted, his eye to the ground for more tracks to guide him. Eventually, he cups his hands around his mouth and starts calling clear out into the woods. ]

She bows at the gate before entering, managing her pink tote that's weighed down with gifts. If there is a small well to clean her hands, she'll do so first, and then continue until she's in front of the shrine proper. The bell is rung -- once, then a bow, twice, then kneeling to her knees -- before she begins to pray.
... Or just to think, perhaps, because Sakura doesn't know what she wants anymore. Strength, or courage, or just a quick end when it comes. Hands clasped together, she presses her forefinger and thumbs into her forehead, breathes through her nose until her heartbeat is slow and even.
If there is a god, or gods, or anyone who bothers to look down from their throne, then she hopes that perhaps they'll pity her for a little while, selfish as it is.]
